Dark Universe Has a Director, DC’s Favorite Oddballs Coming to the Big Screen

DC hasn't been the favorite in the cinemas. But that hasn't stopped Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment from exploring ways to bring our favorite superheroes to the big screen.

And while there has been a mix of the do-gooder heroes in the form of the Justice League and the recently showcased "badder than baddass" Suicide Squad, it appears that we will see something in between in the future.

Variety has recently confirmed that Dark Universe, also known as Justice League Dark in the comics, already has a director, a producer, and a scriptwriter. Michael Gilio is said to be in charge of the script, while Doug Liman and Scott Rudin are set to direct and produce the film respectively.

Interestingly, however, the report also stated that Liman has already left the Gambit production to take up the director's seat in Dark Universe.

As far as plot details go, there's still no hint of what the story will be for Dark Universe. All that's known is that some of the favorites, Zatanna, John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, and Etrigan the Demon may be included, if the story follows the comics.

What's even more interesting is that the inclusion of the Dark Universe will also mean an addition to the DC Cinematic Universe that Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are building. No official comment or statement had been issued by either companies.

DC really needs to get at least one good hit in its lineup of movies. As a fan, it's been heartbreak after heartbreak, especially after seeing what Marvel can do with Captain America: Civil War.

The biggest thing that the DC Cinematic Universe needs to do right now is to find the voice it wants to stick with. With that, they can focus on telling that One Storyline that would weave the universe and heroes it plans to mesh together towards that Justice League blockbuster (trilogy?). I'm still holding out a lot of hope, especially with Wonder Woman and what we've seen so far.
