Daredevil Season 3 Gets A New Showrunner; Kingpin Set To Return

The first season of Daredevil probably still stands as the show's best season, and that's probably thanks to Vincent D'Onofrio for playing such a brilliant villain in Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin. Though he may have only appeared in one episode in season two, it looks like Fisk will be coming back for the third season of Daredevil. What's more, the third season will see a new showrunner in the form of Erik Oleson.

Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb had this to say:

Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk. We're very excited how Marvel's Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson.

Daredevil has actually had different showrunners for each of its seasons so far, with Steven S. DeKnight working on season one, and season two having Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez running the show. Oleson has had experience working on The CW's Arrow, and he's also EP on The Man in the High Castle.

Going back to Kingpin, I absolutely love D'Onofrio's characterization of Fisk, and it's like his villain was the one that set the standard for every other incoming bad giy for Marvel Netflix. Besides David Tennant's Kilgrave, I can't think of any other baddie who has been able to top Fisk.

After the supposed bomb that was The Defenders, Marvel Netflix really needs to step up its game. It's said that this third season will be based on the Born Again storyline for Daredevil where Matt's life falls apart thanks to the Kingpin learning about Matt's secret identity. Also, Karen Page turns into a porn star heroin addict in the story.

Daredevil 3 will most probably come out sometime in 2018.
