Daredevil Season 2 Photos Show First Look At The Punisher and Elektra

Marvel's Daredevil series was a huge hit on Netflix earlier this year. I'd rank it #2 in my list of the best Netflix original shows I've seen. We still don't know much about Season 2, but we do know that it will premiere on the streaming service next year, and it will star newcomers Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle/The Punisher; and Elodie Yung, who plays Elektra. Now, Entertainment Weekly released some new images that feature Daredevil, Elektra, and The Punisher.

The first image above seems to be inspired by a scene from Garth Ennis' The Punisher Welcome Back Frank comic series. You can check the images below for comparison:

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly,Daredevil showrunner Doug Petrie talked about what fans can expect from Season 2, and it sounds like we'll be rooting for The Punisher. Here's what he said:

"Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we're also going to force people — the way we force Matt — to second guess themselves. Taking lethal justice into your own hands is in America in 2015 is tricky shit. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now. If you've got a gun and you're not the police you're going to incite strong feelings. We're stirring the pot and we're aware of the headlines where we live and we're trying to get people to think."

Co-showrunner Marco Ramirez added:

"He has a different moral code. Matt is a devout Catholic — and you rarely see a character who's a devout anything on TV. Frank has Hammurabi's Code. It's like letting a great white shark into the water."

And here's what Jon Bernthal, the actor playing The Punisher, said about his role:

"People have been coming up to me on the streets of New York saying, ‘Do not mess this up,' This character has resonated with law enforcement and military. He's brought the war home with him in the worst possible way. And the best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn't care."

The actor also revealed that he spent months walking across the Brooklyn Bridge to the set of Daredevil so he can get into The Punisher's isolated and joyless mindset.

In Season 2, Matt Murdock will get closer to Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) in the upcoming season, as you can see in the image above. We'll also see Elektra(Elodie Yung), who will be introduced into Hell's Kitchen. On Matt's complexity and the women in his life, Petrie said:

"Matt's a deeply moral complicated guy and she's just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have. She does everything wrong and attractive, she's his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He's both repulsed and deeply drawn to that."
