Noah Hawley to Write and Direct Next Star Trek Film

An exclusive report from Deadline has revealed that Paramount Pictures is now in its final stages of securing Noah Hawley to direct its fourth Star Trek film. Although more details have yet to surface, the report details how Hawley is expected to produce the film under his 26 Keys production banner together with JJ Abrams under Bad Robot.

Hawley is best remembered for his work on groundbreaking series Legion and currently serves as executive producer, writer, and director of FX's award-winning series Fargo. He made his film directorial debut with Lucy in the Sky, making this unnamed fourth Star Trek film his second one to date.

The franchise's most recent installment was 2016's Star Trek Beyond, which unlike its first two predecessors, was helmed by Justin Lin. The fourth film was announced during the same year, with conflicting reports of whether or not Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth will be returning to reprise their roles as James and George Kirk.

According to The Wrap, however, Pine will be returning aboard the Enterprise together with Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban. The report failed to make any mention of Hemsworth.

Hopefully, we'll be hearing more of his return and details about this new addition to the franchise. Given Hawley's background, it seems like fans are in for quite the ride.

The report from Deadline also addressed the much-awaited Tarantino directed Star Trek film and stated that it is underway, but did not have any details regarding release dates or potential titles.
