Ironheart and Thunderbolts Rumored to be in Development

In light of the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has retired several of its major leaders in the forms of Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow. That said, this leaves room for new characters and the rumor mill has it that this lineup may include Ironheart and the Thunderbolts.

According to MCU Cosmic, a potential Disney+ limited series is now in the early stages of development similar to that of the recently announced Ms. Marvel series. This may be in preparation to introduce her into the films to perhaps finally answer Peter Parker's question from Spider-Man: Far From Home as to who will be the next Iron Man. This would coincide with previous reports of the existence of a supposed Ironheart script.

Also known as Riri Williams, Ironheart is a relatively new character and was first featured in Invincible Iron Man #7 back in 2016. She donned Tony Stark's suit after he fell into a coma. Upon him waking up and taking back the title of Iron Man, Riri went under the name of Ironheart and became a part of the Champions.

As for everyone's favorite group of misfits aka the Thunderbolts, another report from MCU Cosmic speculates that their assembly in the cinematic universe isn't that far off. Thunderbolt Ross is set to appear in next year's Black Widow, while Zemo is expected to appear in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

All of these already fall under Marvel's Phase 5 slate and with Phase 4 still underway, we may all have to wait awhile for these to come to fruition. In the meantime, we can all look forward to Marvel's announced lineup. This includes Black Widow on May 1, 2020, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in the Fall of 2020, The Eternals on November 6, 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on February 12, 2021, Loki in Spring 2021, WandaVision in Spring 2021, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021, What If…? in Summer 2021, Hawkeye in Fall 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder on November 5, 2021, and Black Panther 2 on May 6, 2022.
