Hocus Pocus is among the best and most favorite films of all time. And since it's nearing Halloween, the time where the film is one of the most talked-about topics, it's a delight to receive news like this. Who would've known that after all these years, we'd still get to have a Hocus Pocus sequel?

According to an exclusive report from Collider, Jen D’Angelo who worked on Workaholics has been tasked with writing the script for Disney+. Although none of the original cast members have been officially attached to the new project yet, sources say that D’Angelo has been looking for ways to bring them back with Bette Midler as Winifred, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah, and Kathy Najimy as Mary.

Hocus Pocus hit theaters back in 1993 and earned only $39 million worldwide, barely surpassing its $28 million budget. It has, however, cemented its place as a Halloween cult classic through the years.

The film follows the story of Winifred, Sarah, and Mary, three 17th century witches from Salem, Massachusetts who find themselves resurrected in a modern-day setting. The plot centers on them trying to learn the ins and outs of living in the 20th century and dealing with how Halloween has turned into a holiday.

The film is still in its early stages of development so it’s unclear which direction this sequel is heading. In 2012, there were rumors of a sophomore film entitled Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elder Witch under works but nothing ever came about. However, we can wish for an announcement on this sequel soon or it could already be right around the corner.

Disney+ is set to launch on November 12.
