Anthony Daniels Expresses Regret Over C-3PO’s Role in The Last Jedi

Anthony Daniels is one of the few Star Wars veterans who is on his way to another conclusion of yet another epic trilogy this coming December with the premiere to The Rise of Skywalker, but prior to this the actor actually had regrets over his beloved golden droid's place in the latest trilogy.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, the actor shared: "In The Last Jedi I became a table decoration, which I regretted, because Threepio was worth more than that." He did, however, further add: "But he does all sorts of weird stuff in this one. It was a delight, a joy! I get to go out on a high. This is my third ending and I think I'll be saddest about this one. Return of the Jedi was… well, it had the Ewoks in it, for God's sake!"

The quick-witted gold droid is expected to have a larger role in the upcoming finale. In a previous interview with Uproxx, the film's director JJ Abrams described him as an integral part and "very center to this story and truly wonderful in it."

C-3PO is expected to team up with Daisy Ridley's Rey, John Boyega's Finn, and Oscar Isaac's Poe in a final attempt of the Resistance to battle it out with the evil First Order. How he will be helping still remains a mystery, but Daniels himself has described Threepio's role for this final film as "front and center" during Disney's previous D23 expo.

The Rise of Skywalker is set to hit theaters on December 20.
