Daisy Ridley Deactivated Her Instagram Account After Online Abuse

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley appears to have deactivated her Instagram account after she received online abuse over a message she shared about gun violence.

The 24-year-old English actress is no longer on the social media platform.

Since Ridley left Instagram, there has been speculation that her post abut gun vioelnce may have prompted her to quit the image-focused social network.

Her official Facebook page is still active, but the same post about gun violence (which she also shared on Facebook, as BBC Newsbeat reports), has now vanished.

Here's Ridley's post in full, taken from screengrabs fans took on social media:

"Thinking about how lucky I am like......... Serious bit: as I sat in the audience yesterday tears were streaming down my face at the tribute to those that have been lost to gun violence. I didn't get a great picture of the incredible group that came on stage but they were so brave. It was a true moment of togetherness. We must #stoptheviolence.

Her post about gun crime was shared after her attendance of the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. During the event, Jessica Alba went on stage with a group of teenagers who had all been affected in some way by gun violence.

Some Daisy Ridley fan accounts say that the actress reappeared on Instagram briefly on Wednesday to share the following message:

Daisy Ridley will be back as Rey in Star Wars: Episode VIII, when it hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
