DC Comics TV Show 'Powerless' Loses its Showrunner

The creator, showrunner and executive producer of the new DC Comic TV show Powerless, Ben Queen, has walked away from the project, Deadline reports. Apparently, this break-up was the mutual decision of Queen, NBC and Warner Bros. "Creative differences" are reportedly the reason.

As a result of the departure, production of the series has been delayed. It was supposed to begin in two weeks, but now the show has to postphone it to look for a new person-in-charge. The premiere date of Powerless has yet to be announced, so the delay doesn't really impact that.

Powerless is a NBC Comedy set in the DC Universe. It stars Vanessa Hudgens, who is an insurance adjuster who covers the damage inflicted on regular people when superheroes get in their epic fights. NBC seems to have high hopes for the series since they ordered it midseason.

I've got to say, such a huge loss this early in production isn't a great sign. However, Deadline notes that big comedy TV shows tend to have these struggle. They cited co-creator Eli Jorne qjuitting Son of Zorn as being a similar incident.

What do you think of the loss? Do you have any guesses as to what the "creative differences" that caused Ben Queen to leave could have been? Are you looking forward to the show?
