Activision has made a lot of dreams a reality when it announced that it's releasing a Crash Bandicoot title in the near future.
Now, fans are getting a few more details and hints as to what this title is.
Dubbed as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the collection is set to release remakes of the franchise's well-loved titles.
But calling it a remake seems simplistic, as Activision explained over the PlayStation Blog.
"It's practically impossible to make a traditional remaster of the original Naughty Dog games. They're roughly 20 years old, and technology has advanced significantly in that time. The original code and assets are nearly unusable. Nearly. But we don't consider this a remake. We know how much you all love the original games, so we didn't want to fully remake them."
Hence, this is why the developer is calling the N. Sane Trilogy as a "remaster plus." Basically, it means that the developers took the original concept from Naughty Dog's creation back to even the games' actual inspirations. From there, they started to rebuild the game from scratch.
Even with the launch date still some ways away, Activision already has a few screenshots ready to share, as well as a spanking new trailer.
We get a look at the N. Sanity Beach, a few of the crew rebuilt from their original designs, and even rebuilt cinematics, so prepare for some nostalgia ahead.
Activision is giving a lot of extra features as well, thereby justifying the right to call it a remaster "plus."
Among the new features include unified checkpoints, save, and menu system and time trials for three games.
So far, there are no concrete release dates as of yet, but the trilogy is set for 2017. Now it's time to contemplate getting the PS4 yet again.
