Comics: Will Bruce Wayne Give Up Being Batman Because Of His Father’s Final Request?

The Batman comics have returned to the fan-favorite Flashpoint timeline to have Bruce Wayne meeting with the Batman of that universe, his father Thomas Wayne. With Batman (the Bruce one) and Flash about to make their escape, however, Thomas had one final request for his son.

Here's what he said:

This request was apparently coming from the fact that Thomas knew about the existence of Damian Wayne, and he wishes that Bruce would be the father that he never got to be. With Bruce Wayne's entire vendetta fuelled by the tragedy of losing his parents, you think that Thomas' request would be powerful enough to make him stop being Batman?

For those who aren't familiar with the Flashpoint Batman's backstory, he exists in the timeline because on that fateful night in Crime Alley, it was little Bruce Wayne that was shot and killed instead of his parents. This lead to Martha (MARTHA!) Wayne going insane and becoming the Joker of that universe, while Thomas Wayne took up the mantle of Batman.

Best guess is that Bruce will mull things over for an issue and he'll be back to fighting crime in the next. I think that Batman's mission is a lot more than Bruce Wayne's story, and a request from his father won't be enough to have him stop fighting crime. Besides, what's he going to do with all his bat-themed equipment? Loan them off to Green Arrow?
