Colin Trevorrow Talks About The Biggest Challenge With Directing Star Wars Episode IX

Everyone is excited for the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi this December, but Lucasfilm is already working on the third movie in the sequel trilogy, Star Wars Episode IX. Colin Trevorrow will be taking the director's chair this time around, and he opens up about the biggest challenge when directing the finale for the new trilogy.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Trevorrow explains:

"I think the challenge for me is to recognize that everyone has their own personal relationship with these stories, and it's different depending on who you are. And I need to make a film that you'll appreciate, even if your experience with it was different, which is making something that will be deeply emotionally resonant and satisfying for people all around the world. And I think about it a lot."

Just reading fan comments online will tell you that you really can't please anyone when it comes to making films especially with Star Wars fans. For sure some fans will love what Trevorrow does with his installment, but I am definitely sure that there are fans that will absolutely trash this movie. Some of them are already trashing it as we speak.

Also an interesting note, Trevorrow's latest movie, The Book of Henry, hasn't been doing so well with critics, so a lot of people are really concerned with how he'll handle Star Wars Episode IX. With Lucasfilm breathing down his neck, however, I'm sure Trevorrow will deliver a great ending to the new trilogy.

Episode IX is expected to come out May of 2019, but Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out Dec. 15 this year.
