Chris Evans Seemingly Confirms Black Widow Movie

Everyone and their grandmother is really hoping that Black Widow is one of the post-Infinity War films coming out as part of Marvel's Phase Four. The fact that Captain Marvel is the first MCU film with a female lead in Brie Larson is a great move, though many fans were hoping that Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow would have gotten that honor.

While she might not get that honor, we could be getting a Black Widow film in the near future. Aside from reports about Marvel hiring a writer for the project and aiming for a 2020 release, Captain America himself has seemingly let it slip.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Canada, Evans praised Black Panther and hoped that future films would be as impactful. Evans specifically points out Captain Marvel and Black Widow as films that could make a splash, which caught many fans off guard. Captain Marvel has been confirmed for a number of years but there haven't been any confirmed plans yet for a Natasha Romanoff solo film.

Realistically, this could just be Evans being hopeful. Many fans have wanted a Black Widow solo film since the character appeared in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers. That want increased when she became a prominent character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where she was essentially the co-lead of the film. For everyone's sake, let's hope this ends up being true.

Black Widow is set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which comes out on May 4. She will also be in the unnamed sequel, which comes out on May 3, 2019.
