Charlize Theron Reveals That There Were Mad Max: Fury Road Prequel Scripts For Furiosa

Though George Miller's 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road was a moderate box office success, the film received a lot of critical acclaim with viewers and critics showering the dystopian action movie with positive reviews praising its action, humor and its extravagant production. With all the positive response and numerous Oscar wins, fans have been hoping that the film's success would propel Miller to work on another Mad Max film – one that would focus on Charlize Theron's daring Furiosa.

Now, in an interview with Variety, Theron confirms that not only is she willing to play the character again, but a script for a prequel to Fury Road already exists.

"I'd love to. There were three scripts. They were written as back stories to Max's character and to Furiosa's character. But at the end of the day, this thing lives and breathes with [director] George [Miller]. I think Warner Bros. knows that. We are all waiting for him to show us the way."

Fans loved Furiosa's guts and it's great to see that Theron's eager to put on her war paint and return to this strong, feminist character. With Miller recently expressing desire to make more Mad Max films, the odds that we'll get to see Furiosa on the big screen again are pretty strong. Let's wait and see what happens next.

Theron's newest film Atomic Blonde hits cinemas July 28, 2017.
