Charlie Cox Reveals Where "Luke Cage" falls on the Marvel Timeline

Charlie Cox, who plays the lead character in Marvel's Daredevil Netflix series, discussed the upcoming series Luke Cage at Wizard World Chicago, Comic Book Resources reports. He says the series takes place roughly in the same period as the second season of Daredevil. The clue to this has to do with the character of Claire Temple.

Claire Temple, played by Rosario Dawson, is a nurse who appears in Daredevil and will also appear in Luke Cage. Cox says, ""One thing that I thought was really cool is that in the second season [of Daredevil], we had a scene together and in the storyline we hadn't seen each other for a long time and it takes place at the hospital. Roasario had -- Claire Temple has a cut in her eyebrow. So I was like, 'What is that?' Apparently it had nothing to do with our world but it's part of Luke Cage."

He continued, "The timeline had been thought through and worked out so that whatever's going on in Luke Cage, which we don't know, I don't know, somehow at some point during that show, the next day she's in the hospital talking to me." Basically, the cut on Claire's eyebrow is because of an incident in Luke Cage, meaning that particular event took place shortly before her apperance in Daredevil season 2.

Rosario Dawson talked a bit about the unique position she is in playing Claire Temple. She's appeared in Jessica Jones in addition to Luke Cage and Daredevil. Really, she's the thing that connects all these shows together. Apparently that leads to some weird contract stuff. "When I do sign up, I sign up for episodes, but they don't tell me which shows. So I have no idea -- I'm just sort of working and have this question mark for the entire year, which is when are they gonna call me? "

She mentioned that she came in mid-season for Daredevil season 2. "When I came on, they didn't send me any of the previous episodes so I suddenly just came in in the middle of all this insanity and they're like, 'You'll watch it at the premiere with the rest of us.' My character's a little standalone in that sense."

Luke Cage will premiere September 30 on Netflix.

I'm excited to see what Claire will get up to in Luke Cage. Do you have any speculation? What do you think of the character?
