Charlie Cox: Ben Affleck's Daredevil is 'Fantastic'

Before he was praised for playing the DCEU's Batman, Ben Affleck was getting a lot of flak for playing Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil in the earlier days of superhero movies. Current Daredevil actor Charlie Cox was asked to comment on what he thought of Affleck's portrayal, and he actually thinks he's did the best with what was given to him.

Appearing at Comcpalooza (via ComicBook), Cox explained:

"Personally, I think ... I'm just laughing because I get asked this a lot and sadly I'm going to say the same thing that I've said before. I happen to think Ben Affleck's performance as Daredevil is fantastic. I really like his Matt Murdock ... I stole a lot of stuff."

Though he does praise Affleck's performance, Cox still admits that he doesn't think the Daredevil movie worked at all. He goes on to say:

"The original Daredevil film I don't think that worked particularly well and the reason I don't think it worked particularly well is that what we discovered with the show is that the tone of the character suits a slightly darker, more sinister feel. In my opinion the best Daredevil comics are the ones that are geared towards a slightly more mature audience and I think that what the show captures is that level of sinister, dark tone, I guess. But I like Ben Affleck's Matt Murdock."

If you watch a lot of superhero films, you'll have to admit that even the worst parts always have some redeeming scenes, no matter how small. Sure the Fantastic Four movies may get a lot of hate from fans, but watching the Thing crash into a truck was cinematic gold; not to mention that amazing chase between the Silver Surfer and the Human Torch.

Like Cox says, Affleck actually does some great things with the Daredevil film, but that doesn't mean that the movie is great. I just think it's cool that Affleck was also able to rise up from this role and bring to us one fantastic Bruce Wayne/Batman.
