Carrie Fisher’s Brother Thinks Lucasfilm Should Continue Leia’s Star Wars Legacy

It's been more than a year since the tragic and untimely death of Carrie Fisher, but the wound of the Star Wars legend's passing still lingers in the hearts of her family, friends, and fans.

Opening up about the life that he lived under the shadow of his sister Carrie and his mother Debbie Reynolds in his book "My Girls: A Lifetime with Carrie and Debbie," Todd Fisher went on to speak about what he felt when he saw Leia on the big screen for the first time after Carrie's passing.

"I went to a lot of events the day of 'The Last Jedi,' and I finally got to an event where I actually watched the movie and everything was going great right up until the point that Carrie was in a coma," he said in an interview with Fox News.

According to the actor's brother, it was shocking to see Carrie in a coma in the big screen because he had seen her the same way a few days before her untimely death back in 2016. Though Fisher has no idea what Lucasfilm has planned for Carrie's General Organa in the Star Wars franchise, he says that his sister's legacy needs to continue.

"Well, Disney and Lucas Films at this point, obviously they're in charge and they do what they want," Fisher said. "I can tell you from the family's perspective, from the brother's perspective... I can tell you that her legacy needs to go on, and I think she should be brought into things."

Fans, however, might not feel the same way. After Carrie's passing a lot of fans voiced concern over the idea of Lucasfilm using the actress' image to digitally recreate Leia and present her on the big screen. Many felt like the best way to respect Fisher was to let her image rest with her. Eventually, Lucasfilm caved in, promising that it wouldn't try to resurrect Fisher in Star Wars: Episode IX by digitally recreating the actress' image on the big screen.

What do you think? Should Lucasfilm continue Carrie's legacy by resurrecting her in future Star Wars films? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
