Captain Phasma May Be Unmasked In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma may have stuck to her armor in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars revival movie The Force Awakens, however it seems like Lucasfilm is planning to have her unmasked in the film's highly anticipated sequel, The Last Jedi.

Speaking in an interview with Vanity Fair, Lucasfilm Story Group creative executive member Pablo Hidalgo revealed that the studio has bigger plans for Phasma, hinting that the film could lead her to have an unmasking.

"I think a big part of the allure of her character was just wondering what might be underneath. It was only relatively recently that we wanted to commit to the idea that there was a human under there. The Force Awakens left that question, but as we got further into [The] Last Jedi, as well as some other stories we're thinking about with Phasma, we had to ask ourselves, ‘Alright, do we agree there's a human under there?'"

Thinking that Phasma would be the sequel trilogy's Boba Fett equivalent, fans were really hyped to see the all-chrome senior trooper before the screening of The Force Awakens. However, many were disappointed that the film failed to use Phasma to her full potential, chucking her into a trash compacter around the end of the film. Despite this, we hope that Phasma will finally get some action in The Last Jedi.

Featuring Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o, Benicio Del Toro, Kelly Marie Tran, and Laura Dern, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to premiere on December 15, 2017.
