Captain America and Arrow Actor Joins Sonic the Hedgehog Movie

Say what you will about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie and how cringey it could be but it seems like Paramount is hiring talented people to work on it. James Marsden is pretty good and Jim Carrey can be a riot if given the right material so hopes are there, even if they aren't very high. To their credit, Paramount has hired another talented actor for the movie; Neal McDonough.

According to Collider, McDonough's role is still under wraps so we will have to wait for a trailer or two before we can guess if he will be a character from the games or an original one for the film. Considering how Marsden and actor Adam Pally are going to be cops, it's more likely to be the latter.

This isn't McDonough's first video game adaptation, unfortunately; he has appeared in the awful Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li, which continued the trend of Hollywood not getting these adaptations right. Thankfully, he has also done good work in Captain America: The First Avenger as Dum Dum Dugan and as one of the major villains in a season of Arrow.

It remains to be seen if Sonic the Hedgehog will end up being a good movie and if it can dethrone Rampage as the best Hollywood video game movie of all time, though that isn't saying much. The movie is currently slated for a November 15, 2019, release.
