Captain America Just Might Have Died In Avengers: Infinity War

Now that Avengers: Infinity War's done with its theatrical release, fans have been cooking up all sorts of new theories to keep themselves busy while waiting for the premiere of the film's sequel, Avengers 4.

One of the latest Infinity War fan theory that's made its way online is the speculation that Captain America (Chris Evans) just might have been killed by Thanos in the comic book movie.

While it's pretty clear that Marvel's favorite bad-ass boy scout ends up surviving the Mad Titan's finger-snapping massacre at the end of Infinity War, Express reports that there's been a lot of speculation online that Captain America just might have died during the final act of the film.

During the climax of the movie, fans might remember that Thanos arrives in Wakanda to pluck away the Mind Stone from Vision's (Paul Bettany) forehead. A lot of Avengers try to stop the Mad Titan in his tracks – and that includes Captain America. Putting himself between Vision and Thanos, Steve Rogers takes the spotlight by courageously holding the Mad Titan by the Infinity Gauntlet right before he gets a blow to the back of his head.

According to the theory, Captain America dies at this point in the film. There's no way the super soldier can survive a hit that hard and many fans wondered how Cap could recover in a few seconds from a punch that took out the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

Luckily, the first Avenger is revived when Thanos uses the Time Stone to undo Scarlet Witch's (Elizabeth Olsen)hard work at destroying the Mind Stone.

Thinking about it now, the theory does seem pretty possible. It doesn't seem farfetched that Thanos would have killed Cap with his punch – even the first Avenger isn't invincible.

What do you think? Did Cap die in Infinity War? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
