'Captain America: Civil War' Might Be Split Into Two Parts

Warning: Comic Book Spoilers!

Although Captain America: Civil War won't be out until May 6, 2016, Marvel is already trying to pump up excitement for a sequel.

Comic Book stores across the US received the below suspicious postcard in the mail this week.

In the comic books, Sam Wilson becomes the new Captain America. On the front side of the postcard we can clearly see Iron Man fighting Sam Wilson decked out as the Captain and equipped with his iconic shield.

The back side of this postcard is emblazoned with a giant "II" with the words "Spring 2016" underneath. The amount of information in this postcard is limited. It's clear that Marvel doesn't want to say too much, but is obviously trying to stir up some commotion about its intentions.

Since Captain America: Civil War comes out in Spring 2016, it would make a lot of sense for Marvel to release a big comic book event for a sequel immediately afterward. It's most likely that this postcard confirms a second part in the comic books. It also leaves us with a suspicion that there could be unsolved actions in the first film.

With Infinity War on the horizon, does Marvel have enough time to produce a cinematic sequel to Captain America: Civil War? In the current Marvel movie lineup, there are no Avengers movies scheduled for 2017. The three movies set to be released are Guardians of The Galaxy 2, Spider-Man, and Thor: Ragnarok. This leaves a two year gap between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War Part 1. We can speculate that none of the cast from any of those movies are needed for the plot of Civil War II, which as far as we know focuses on Earth, Captain America, and Iron Man. This leaves a perfect gap for a sequel to be released in the spring or summer of 2017.

As a common strategy, many studios will officially announce their sequel plans to the public following a strong opening for a new movie. Perhaps Marvel is just waiting for that moment to release their intention of a sequel that could prepare us further for the Infinity War. What do you think of the postcard? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think.
