Captain America #700 Includes New Story with Jack Kirby Art

Marvel has announced the first details of April's Captain America #700, the oversized finale to the current Out of Time arc. It seems like creators Mark Waid and Chris Samnee are going to make Steve Rogers royalty, as the oversized issue hints that he will be king to the new future he has awoken to. As if that wasn't enough, Marvel is also promising a previously unseen Captain America by the legendary Jack Kirby, with Mark Waid providing the script.

Some fans might see the move as an odd one since we just saw an authoritarian Cap in last year's controversial Secret Empire event. Thankfully, he won't be spouting "Hail Hydra," so that's already a plus.

The 700th issue will also have appearances from future versions of Hulk and Thing, who managed to survive this new future, albeit barely. It will be interesting to see how long Cap will be stuck in this predicament, or if he returns to the main Marvel Earth by the end of the story.

Here is the press release from Marvel:

This spring, OUT OF TIME will culminate with the release of CAPTAIN AMERICA's milestone 700th issue, concluding the arc in an oversized story from creators Mark Waid and Chris Samnee!

Frozen in time, awakened in a decimated future and once again a man out of his era, there is only one way for Steve Rogers to restore order and rebuild civilization—and that's to rule it as King Captain America!

"No dream, no hoax, no lie, this IS Cap and this IS happening!" said SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. "Guest-starring the Thing and the Hulk (or as much as is left of them), it's a celebration of 700 issues of star-spangled adventure! Plus, Mark Waid delivers an untold tale from Captain America's past, featuring the classic artwork of Jack Kirby!"

Don't miss the conclusion of an arc that has seen some of Steve Rogers' most epic adventures in CAPTAIN AMERICA #700, on sale this spring!

Captain America #700 comes out on April 4. There will be variant covers from Jim Steranko and Jim Lee, though they will be reused art with fresh colors, rather than brand-new drawings.
