Cannes Festival Reveals Runtime for Solo: A Star Wars Story

Star Wars: The Last Jedi came out as the longest Star Wars movie to be ever made, but it looks like Solo will be going down to a more traditional runtime—clocking in the same numbers as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

As revealed by the Cannes Festival website, Solo: A Star Wars Story will have a runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes. With that in mind, Solo comes out a total of 17 minutes shorter than The Last Jedi (2h, 32m). It's also longer than fellow anthology movie Rogue One by 2 minutes.

With all the drama about directors changing, a lot of people were worried that it could deeply affect what would be included in the film; however, it looks like Ron Howard was able to pull everything together—even being allowed by Lucasfilm to shoot more than what was previously agreed.

Though some fans online may be negative about the release of Solo, some hopeful fans should keep in mind that there's an entire branch of Star Wars lovers who are happy to see the movie come out. Sure Alden Ehrenreich isn't an exact clone of Harrison Ford, but neither was Ewan McGregor when he was cast to play a young Alec Guinness/Obi-Wan Kenobi—and everyone loves him.

Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out May 25.
