Marvel's Daredevil is finally getting a release on Blu-ray. According to a Walmart listing, the complete first season will come out on Blu-Ray on November 8th. The series has always been available on Netflix, but this is a first for a physical release.
The release date was previously rumored to be October 3, thanks to pre-order availability on Zaavi.com. But that release was exclusive to the UK. But this one seems more likely to be the real deal for America. Here's the cover art:
In addition to Wal-Mart, Amazon is now listing the Blu-ray, pricing it at $58.97. There also appears to be a pricier edition on the way, listed at $99.99. There's no word on when or if the series will be available on DVD.
There's also no word on special features for the disc. The most the Wal-Mart listing tells us is that there will be English subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired. The price for this version is listed as $31.86.
However, this news does tell us one thing: the Netflix exclusitivity contract for Daredevil has ended. The Netflix original series was previously advertised as only being available through the Netflix service, so a physical release means time has run out on that agreement. This means we might also soon see physical released of other Netflix Marvel series, such as Luke Cage and Jessica JonesJ.
Here's Walmart's official description for the Daredevil Blu-ray:
"Daredevil" follows Matt Murdock, attorney by day and vigilante by night. Blinded by an accident as a child, Murdock uses his heightened senses as Daredevil, fighting crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down. His efforts are not welcomed by powerful businessman Wilson Fisk - aka Kingpin - and others whose interests collide with those of Daredevil. Though Murdock's day job suggests a man who believes in the criminal justice system, his alter ego proves otherwise, as he takes the law into his own hands to protect his Hell's Kitchen neighborhood and the surrounding communities.
What do you think of the news? Will you be getting the Blu-ray? Are there any special features you're hoping for?
