Bumblebee: New Look at the Decepticons

Bumblebee is currently gearing up for its panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, but they have actually given us some big reveals online prior to the event. Now we have a look at two new Decepticons for the film.

Check out Shatter (left) and Dropkick (right) courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:

Director Travis Knight describes the two to be "Decepticon muscle cars." Shatter (Angela Bassett) is a red Plymouth Satellite. Dropkick (Justin Theroux) is a blue AMC Javellin.

There is also a third villain that was featured in the trailer that has not been officially revealed, but everyone is almost sure that it is Starscream. The transformation looks very akin to the G1 era of Transformers, and the colors are also a dead give away from the red and white wings to the black head.

Knight also had this to say about the villains and the movie overall:

"When the cast is too big, and you have a finite amount of time, there's only so much you can do to create an investment in them… This is a more personal, intimate, and character-driven story, so it felt right to keep the villain plot relatively simple and contained. If you keep things lean, you can add a lot of other stuff on top of it that makes it more enjoyable."

With the Michael Bay films usually being panned for being too convoluted, I think ‘simple' is exactly what the Transformers franchise needs right now. A lot of people are actually excited for this upcoming film. To be honest, I'd even forgive it if it was an actual reboot of the entire franchise.

Catch Bumblebee in theaters Dec. 21.
