Bright 2 Gets Beauty and the Beast Screenwriter

Bright may not have been the most critically praised movie of last year, but Netflix is moving forward developing the sequels. David Ayer is set to come back to direct, and news has it that the movie has found a screenwriter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast) is now officially attached as the film's screenwriter. The writer of the first film, Max Landis, is not coming back for this sequel, and rumor has it that it was because of creative differences with Ayer.

It's interesting that Spiliotopoulos has been hired to write this film as he has a ton of experience writing movies for Disney. He's also the scribe behind movies like Snow White and the Huntsman and 2014's Hercules. I hope he knows how to add all of those fairy tale characters in a darker, modern setting.

Though Bright wasn't the best film, I will admit that the premise is incredibly intriguing. Stories about orcs and elves have been told time and time again, but never before were they put in a modern-day setting.

Let's hope Ayer and Spiliotopoulos come up with a better film than the original.

Bright 2 still has no official release date.
