The delay of the Dune remake film has gravely affected the much-awaited big-screen debut of Robert Pattinson as Batman. Following the announcement that Dune was now set for release on October 1, 2021, the same actual date that Matt Reeves's standalone The Batman film was originally set to premiere, fans already had a hunch that it could get delayed yet again because there was no way Warner Bros. Pictures would pit the two big-budget films against one another.

As per ComicBook.com, The Batman's release has officially been pushed back to an even later date of March 4, 2022. Oh, man. No official word has come out from DC and Warner Bros yet but they've also announced new schedules for upcoming DCEU flicks. Interestingly, they have yet to address the fate of DC's remaining film offering for this year Wonder Woman 1984 which is still eyeing a Christmas day release but don't be surprised if it ends up succumbing to the scheduling delays brought upon by the ongoing COVID-10 pandemic.

It's a major blow for a lot of fans of the caped crusader, myself included considering we've been dying to witness what the Twilight actor brings to the table as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Just when you thought fans have felt fatigued over the iconic DC character, The Batman's jaw-dropping trailer which debuted at the inaugural DC FanDome seemingly reinvigorated the interest of fans and it totally sucks that we're not gonna be able to see it anytime soon. Sure, I can wait for it to hit cinemas once everything goes back to normal and there seems to be no other option as of now anyway but man, 2022 is still a little too far away. At this point though, there's really nothing we can do.

The Batman has reportedly resumed production in Chicago, Illinois.
