The success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be attributed to intricate and patient storytelling through standalone films which would all culminate into one giant crossover event. We've seemingly grown accustomed to that treatment but there was a time when nerd franchises didn't rely on such methods to create a triumphant franchise, and I'm talking about The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

A franchise reboot on the big screen is pretty much inevitable especially now that an Amazon series is coming our way. Now, amid all the excitement, one fan thinks a present-day adaptation of LOTR would follow the MCU's tried and tested technique. Twitter user @Macy64x created a hilarious graphic depicting how the Lord of the Rings saga would be handled today. According to her, just like the MCU, it would be presented in several standalone films which would also have an epic climax. It's funny when you think about it but it could end up being true. Check it out below:

Sure, the MCU can rightfully claim that they've pioneered the shared universe concept in the film industry but that doesn't mean other franchises aren't allowed to follow suit. However, that treatment doesn't always guarantee success and so far, it's only worked for Marvel for some strange reason. Heck, even DC couldn't crack the code up to this point. I gotta say though, I miss the times when films were presented much simpler.

In case you missed it, a Lord of the Rings series is coming to Amazon sometime in 2021.
