Jeremy Renner's standalone Hawkeye spinoff series is among the MCU projects that haven't really been in the radar all that much following its announcement last year but apparently, it's slowly starting to take shape and although we still don't know much about the upcoming Disney+ show, Marvel Studios is reportedly in the process of looking for an actress to play the main baddie.

According to an exclusive scoop from MCU Direct, famed Marvel comics villain Madame Masque is set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut and will be wreaking havoc in the series which is said to revolve around Clint Barton training his apprentice Kate Bishop aka the next Hawkeye. The report also claims that Marvel has indeed begun scouting for an actress to portray the villainous role. Now, that's some news to be excited about!

Avid fans might be scratching their heads at the thought of Madame Masque aka Giuletta Nefaria being involved in the series. After all, the character is best-known as Iron Man's villain (sometimes love interest) but in fact, she's had a few chaotic run-ins with Bishop so it makes complete sense. Speaking of Bishop, rumors previously suggested that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse voice actress Hailee Steinfeld has been cast as the successor to the Hawkeye mantle. I don't know about you but she seems to be the perfect fit!
