Rumors began swirling earlier this week that Warner Bros. and DC want to recruit Nicolas Cage to star in the upcoming The Flash film as the Man of Steel from a different dimension, possibly to fulfill his nixed Superman prophecy. Most of you are probably aware by now that the Ghost Rider star had a canned Superman project back in the '90s which would've been helmed by Tim Burton who worked on both Batman and Batman Returns but now, with the upcoming Ezra Miller film exploring the mystique of the DC Multiverse, Cage just might get his long overdue redemption.

Now, you must be wondering how Cage would look like as the iconic DC superhero in the present time. Well, wonder no more as artist @spdrmkyxxiii shared his awesome fan art on Instagram depicting the 56-year-old actor as the Kryptonian hero, minus the long hair and all the zaniness that came with Tim Burton's original design. Check it out here:

Among all of the DC Extended Universe's upcoming releases not titled Justice League (Snyder Cut) or The Batman, Andy Muschietti's The Flash is undoubtedly the most intriguing simply because it opens a brand new world and will breathe new life into the franchise. Not only that, it's giving guys like Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton another shot to return to their superhero roots which make for interesting stories and scenarios. Now, going back to Cage and the possibility of him finally taking flight as Superman on the big screen after 20+ years, I'm certainly all for it as his shelved Superman Lives film still remains to this day as one of pop culture's biggest what-ifs. For now, let's just "hope" the rumors are true.

The Flash is slated for release in 2022.
