The Fast & Furious franchise could be exploring new horizons and unfamiliar territories for its ninth installment as confirmed by one of its lead stars.

Appearing on Sirius FM's The Jess Cagle Show, Michelle Rodriguez said that Fast & Furious 9 will indeed defy all laws of physics by launching Vin Diesel's character Dominic Toretto in space. Say what?! When asked about the rumor which was first sparked by co-star Ludacris last July, here's what she had to say:

Oh, no way. How did you guys find that out? See what happens? People start talking behind the scenes, man. When a movie doesn't come out and forget about it, things get out. Nobody was supposed to know that…Oh, well, no, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not lucky enough to hit space, but we did get a female writer and showed a lot of love, I think, on this one. Thanks to…Justin Lin. We were able to, to find a little bit more attention and love for the girls in the movie. And so I'm really hopeful that that, that shows through in the final product.

Of course, let's take everything with a grain of salt but as crazy and far-fetched as it may sound, it'll definitely be an interesting scenario should the "rumors" end up being true. But really, even without it, Fast 9 still promises to be an absolute must-watch since it features the franchise debut of John Cena who plays Dom's brother. Oh, did we mention that it also marks director Justin Lin's return to the 'Fast' universe? We sure have a lot of reasons to be excited about it!
