Bob Iger Confirms That X-Men, Fantastic Four, And Deadpool Will Indeed Join The MCU

With all the Disney/Fox acquisition news, a lot of people automatically assumed that properties like X-Men and Fantastic Four would be fused with the MCU. Of course, we still had no official confirmation that this was going to happen, and a lot of it was wishful thinking. The good news is, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms that the characters will indeed be added to MCU's roster of heroes.

Talking during a call to investors (via Deadline), Iger said:

"We have the opportunity to expand iconic franchises for new generations of fans just as we have done with Marvel and Star Wars… We're also looking forward to expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe to include X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool."

Iger has also confirmed that he wants to continue making some R-rated Marvel movies, specifically singling out Deadpool. With that in mind, fans can rest easy that DP won't be watered down to fit the demands of the family-friendly Disney.

As for how the characters will be introduced to the MCU, we still have no idea. Honestly I'd prefer it if they just rebooted the entire franchise, starting with fresh new faces. Maybe they can even make an all new First Class of X-Men which includes original members Cyclops, Jean Grey, Angel, Beast, and Iceman. I'm honestly exhausted with how messed up the timeline has become since Days of Future Past. Thanks a lot, Bryan Singer.

If something isn't worth rebooting, however, it's Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds has spent years trying to get the character his own movie, and after a successful first movie, it would be a shame if Disney suddenly decided to reboot the character as well. Maybe Doctor Strange can pull Deadpool into the MCU before the X-Universe gets a total overhaul.

Speaking of Deadpool, the sequel comes out June 1, 2018.
