Bleach Live-Action Trilogy Possibly Coming; Japanese Critic Praised The First Film

Live-action adaptations of anime haven't always been great. Dragon Ball Evolution and Netflix's Death Note disappointed many fans while last year's Fullmetal Alchemist and Ghost in the Shell received mixed reviews. However, the upcoming live-action Bleach movie might give otakus hope.

In a recent report by Cinema Today, it was revealed that the live-action Bleach's executive producer wants to pursue an entire live-action trilogy if the first film does well. During the interview with the outlet, Hiroyoshi Koi said that he's already pursuing a sequel for Bleach. The producer is considering to turn the franchise into a trilogy just like the live-action Rurouni Kenshin films.

Not a lot of reviews have been released for the film but Japanese critic Fujimoto Yousuke claims to have seen the film and praised it, saying it's the best live-action film based on anime in the last ten years.

Here's the translation:

"Come to think of it, "BLEACH" I saw the preview was the best. Director Shinsuke Sato + Yuji Shimomura What the action director has accumulated has come to fruition. The "usage" of CG and the action is very skill movie. It is one of the best in the live action of the last ten years. How to put together from the original, costume without a sense of cosplay is wonderful. I was really impressed."

The first Bleach film is said to follow the Substitute Shinigami arc from Tite Kubo's manga and anime. It's set to release in Japanese theaters on July 20, 2018.
