Blade Runner Sequel's Official Title Revealed

The sequel to Ridley Scott's cyberpunk film based on Phillip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep will be released next year, but not much has been revealed about the film's plot. We know that Ryan Gosling is starring in the film and Harrison Ford is reprising his role as Deckard. Now, the film's official title has finally been revealed: Blade Runner 2049.

That definitely sounds more futuristic than just adding "2". In addition to the title reveal, the press release included a hashtag (#BladeRunner2049), and an image has also been unveiled showing producer Ridley Scott, director Denis Villeneuve, Gosling, and Ford. The original film was set in 2019, so it's good to see them jump 30 years because the Los Angeles we see today isn't close to Scott's dystopian vision. Check out the image:

Blade Runner 2049 is set to release in theaters on October 6, 2017.
