Blade Runner 2049 Art Director Will Be Working on Star Wars: Episode IX

Despite its disappointing box office performance, Blade Runner 2049 turned out to be one of 2017's most beautifully shot films thanks to the stunning art direction of Paul Inglis. Now, you'll be glad to know that Inglis has been hired as the supervising art director for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Other films that he has worked on include Skyfall, Blade Runner 2049, Game of Thrones, Prometheus, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, andChildren of Men, so Episode IX will be his first Star Wars film.

Omega Underground reports: "Paul and his team of Lucasfilm artists, Abrams, and the production designer will come together to craft the overall look of the film. You can imagine after working on a labor-intensive production like Game of Thrones, Paul will bring something special to the table."

Star Wars has its own distinct visual style but I hope that Inglis would help make the kind of beautiful shots we've never seen in the previous films in the saga before.

Star Wars: Episode IX (not its official title) will be released on December 20, 2019.
