Black Panther Tops Every Other Marvel Film’s IMAX Pre-Sales

Black Panther continues to reap financial success even before its big premiere this Friday.

Speaking with Variety, IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster reveals that T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) very first standalone film has just broken past all Marvel records, becoming the biggest seller of advance IMAX tickets in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"We have a movie that has clearly captured the zeitgeist," Foster told the publication. "Pre-sales are the surest way to see how momentum is going: The momentum is gathering steam as opposed to slowing down."

According to the IMAX CEO, ticket pre-sales usually peak around 10 days before film releases, but with four days to Black Panther's domestic premiere, Foster believes that the upcoming Marvel movie's advanced ticket sales might actually peak during its debut.

"It's remarkable," Foster notes.

But that's not all. By the end of January, the film's advanced ticket sales for regular screenings had already outpaced every other comic book movie, including Batman v Superman. The film is also currently tracking to rake in $165 million during its opening weekend, beating out the $150 million that Deadpool earned during its February opening.

There certainly has been a lot of excitement building up over Black Panther.

Black Panther premieres this Friday, February 16.
