Black Panther Set Photo Honors Muhammad Ali

Though a lot of Marvel fans are excited for the releases of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok this year, next year will see the release of Black Panther being led by Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, King of Wakanda. Boseman has recently posted a picture of himself on set, and he just paid tribute to legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.

Here's the Tweet:

Though Marvel generally has a lot of fans, some may think that the minorities are a bit under-represented. So far, the only black heroes in the Avengers are Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and War Machine (James Rhodes), and none of them have their own solo movie. Black Panther will be the first movie focusing on a black superhero.

Now some may argue that Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is the first black superhero to enter the MCU, but he's in the Netflix Marvel lineup, and God knows when the movies will ever acknowledge the TV shows. I mean, even a slight mention would be well appreciated by the fans. Is that too much to ask, Marvel?

T'Challa, the new ruler of the advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must defend his land from being torn apart by enemies from outside and inside the country.

Black Panther is being directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis. The movie is set to release on Feb. 16, 2018.
