Black Panther Passes Star Wars: The Force Awakens To Become The Most Tweeted Movie Ever

It's been a month since Black Panther made its big premiere but it looks like excitement for T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) first standalone movie's still pretty much there.

With so much love for the film, Black Panther continues to break records, not only at the international and domestic box office but also on Twitter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, buzz for Black Panther on Twitter remains as strong as ever and now the film has become the most tweeted-about film in the history of the social media platform. Tweeted for more than 35 million times, Black Panther has accumulated more buzz than Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Not only did the film accumulate the most tweets stateside, it also had the most tweets in the UK as well as in Thailand. Talk about influential.

Last weekend, Black Panther also grossed more than $607 million in the US and a total of $1.2 billion at the international box office. Next week the film is expected to pass The Avengers and become the highest-grossing superhero film in cinematic history though not accounting for inflation.

Here's the synopsis for Black Panther:

"After the death of his father, T'Challa returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king -- and as Black Panther -- gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people."

Black Panther is currently screening in cinemas.
