Black Panther Officially Wraps Filming

A lot of fans grew to love Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa in Captain America: Civil War, and he'll be leading his own solo movie when Black Panther comes out next year. News has it that the movie has officially wrapped, and now Black Panther enters the post-production phase.

Production wrapping was confirmed by lead actor Chadwick Boseman who posted a picture of himself with co-star Lupita Nyong'o as well as director Ryan Coogler and actress Syndelle Noel.

If that post doesn't seem like a confirmation of the production ending, Noel had retweeted Boseman's post with the caption, "Yes, we did!... and making history. #ThatsaWrap."

So far, Noel herself hasn't been listed in the cast lineup, but some suspect that she is playing another one of the Black Panther's bodyguards, the Dora Milaje.

Hopefully it's smooth sailing from this point. Black Panther will actually be the first Marvel Studios movie to have a black hero as the protagonist. Even if we had black heroes like War Machine and Falcon, they've always played second fiddle to white heroes like Iron Man and Captain America. Some may also want to argue that Luke Cage is actually the first black hero of the MCU, but seeing as the movie universe usually disregards TV, T'Challa will have to be the one to take that mantle.

Black Panther follows T'Challa who, after the events of "Captain America: Civil War," returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T'Challa's mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, and Forest Whitaker. The movie comes out on Feb. 16, 2018.
