Black Label's Batman: Damned Will Be An Oversized Comic Series

When it was announced that some of DC's Black Label line wouldn't stick to regular comic book formatting, many were intrigued. Most felt that we would be seeing more original graphic novels from the publisher, which is still possible to be fair, but now we know that some of these comics will be oversized compared to regular issues.

Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo's Batman: Damned is one of those series, as revealed by Dan Didio via DC All Access (skip to 7:45). Fans were already excited for the series thanks to the creators who are involved with the project but knowing that all the issues will be oversized is a treat all on its own.

Now that we know the size of these issues, it's easy to see why Batman: Damned will only come out bi-monthly. Having Lee Bermejo doing interiors is impressive enough and making them oversized is asking for a lot.

Batman: Damned is the first series released under the Black Label publishing line and has Batman team up with John Constantine to see who murdered The Joker. It's a cool premise and one that should win over both casual and hardcore DC fans, given the characters involved.

Batman: Damned #1 comes out on September 19.
