Big Bang Theory Spinoff Young Sheldon Gets A Trailer

We've been hearing about the Big Bang Theory spinoff, Young Sheldon, for months, and now we finally get a trailer with Iain Armitage starring as a 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper.

Unlike the original show, Young Sheldon will be shot as a single camera comedy very much like Malcolm in the Middle. The show will focus on Sheldon's family, and will also include Zoe Perry playing Sheldon's mother, Mary Cooper. We also get to see his father George Cooper (Lance Barber), as well as his siblings played by Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan.

There has also been news that the pilot episode for the series will be directed by Iron Man's Jon Favreau, but looking at the IMDb listing, there hasn't been anyone listed as director yet. The series was created by TBBT's Chuck Lorre and the show's current showrunner Steven Molaro.

Looking at the trailer, you can spot all the trademark Sheldon-idiosyncrasies, but Armitage has a long way before he can deliver lines the way Parsons does. Despite some people's obvious distaste for the show, I have to admit it did start out pretty well, and Jim Parsons is definitely one of the elements that makes The Big Bang Theory stand out.

Young Sheldon airs on CBS on Sept. 25 this year.
