Benicio Del Toro’s The Last Jedi Character Rumored To Have Stolen From Han Solo

Though Lucasfilm does its very best to keep each of its films secure from leaks, information about its upcoming Star Wars film installments still manages to trickle online. There's been a lot of speculation going on about the events and the characters in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and one of these rumors includes the character of award-winning Puetro Rican star, Benicio del Toro.

Back in April rumorshad it that del Toro was playing the part of a "slimy and dirty" character from the grittier and shadier segments of the galaxy.

Now, according to a report by Express, speculation has it that this shady character might actually be Gannis Ducain, the individual who took away the Millenium Falcon from Harrison Ford's Han Solo in The Force Awakens.

In the film, Han claimed that his ship had been stolen by Ducain. However, an old video by Star Wars Explained suggest that the gunrunner Ducain might have taken the ship to settle one of Han's Debts.

"In the book, Han is approached by some hired muscle that he assumes is with Ducain, and they demand he hand over the Falcon. Either way, if Ducain had stolen or taken the Falcon as payment, it's logical for him to go to Solo first once it was stolen from him. Ducain obviously thinks he has some right to the ship."

If it's true that Del Toro is really playing Ducain, the gunrunner's profile fits with rumors that sprouted back in April claiming that the Marvel star's character in The Last Jedi was part of the seedier community in the Star Wars galaxy. However, there's no telling whether this information can be true until Lucasfilm gives out its official confirmation. We'll just have to wait and see.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres on December 15, 2017.
