Ben Affleck Plays The DCEU’s Batman For His Son
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might have been a divisive start for the DC Extended Universe, however fans really loved Ben Affleck’s rendition of the Dark Knight, praising it as one of the most comicbook accurate versions of the Caped Crusader.
Though Affleck might be continually flip flopping on his decision to stay in Warner Bros. burgeoning superhero franchise given his current age, the DCEU star seems to be enjoying his time doing the promotional rounds for Justice League and now that the film releases on Friday, the actor’s decided to let out the real reason why he decided to become the franchise’s Batman.
Sitting down with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live to show off a clip of Bruce Wayne interacting with Ezra Miller’s Flash, Affleck decided to open up about the main reason why he decided to put on Batman’s cowl for DC.
“Literally, the reason I took this movie is imagining wearing that costume and I’ve got a little boy and having my son see me,” Affleck explained. “Everybody wants their kid to think of them as a superhero before they get too smart.”
Unfortunately, the plan backfired.
“My son, two weeks ago, said to me, ‘Dad, there’s one costume I want in the whole wide world. Can you get it?’ And I said, ‘Ya know, I have some connections.’ And then he told me who he wanted to be.”
Kimmel then went on to take out a photo of Affleck’s son dressed as the Flash. It’s a funny mix-up, but at least Bruce Wayne gets to recruit the Flash in Justice League. Besides, Affleck wouldn’t have been a right choice as Barry Allen anyway.
Justice League makes its big debut this Friday, November 17.
