Back at SDCC 2019, Marvel Studios had given us their plans all the way up to 2021, but we know there are also a lot of other projects that have yet to be revealed. What’s interesting is, a rumor has popped up that Disney+ is aiming to make a Young Avengers series.
This comes from insider Daniel Richtman who writes: Marvel [is] developing a Young Avengers/Champions show for Disney+. A movie is possible but I hear they really want it to be a limited series.
For now, it looks like nothing solid has been planned, and the studio is still wondering about the best way to approach this property. Then again, since this is just a rumor, we should just take it with a grain of salt. Even Inhumans was officially announced before, and where is that property now?
If you’re curious about the Young Avengers, they’re basically the teen version of the OG Avengers with members like Patriot (Captain America), Iron Lad (Iron Man), Wiccan (Thor), Hulkling (Hulk), Stature (Giant-Man), and so much more. The guess is that this iteration could include the likes of Ms. Marvel, Miss America, and the new Hawkeye (possibly played by Hailee Steinfeld)—all expected to have their own Disney+ series.
Personally, I would love to see a full movie featuring the Young Avengers, but with Guardians of the Galaxy and Eternals, Marvel Studios may want to try something different than a superhero ensemble film. Then again, I would love to see a movie, since that would mean that they’re taking the characters seriously. If you look at Marvel TV, you can never help but feel that Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, and the rest are always second fiddle to the heroes on the big screen.
If anything, it’s best to wait for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier which will set the bar for other incoming Marvel shows.
Catch The Falcon and The Winter Soldier when it comes out in the fall of 2020. Disney+ launches on Nov. 12.
