Wonder Woman 1984 was originally supposed to come out in June, but COVID-19 has had WB push back one of the most anticipated movies of the year to an October slate. With the pandemic still on full swing though, it looks like WW84 could be looking at another delay.
According to Deadline, exhibition sources are hearing that WB is considering moving Wonder Woman 1984 from its October slate to sometime in November or December. While this still isn't final, it's said that the release of Tenet is also a factor when it comes to releasing Wonder Woman. Tenet is already kind of stumbling in theaters because of COVID-19, and it's possible it will miss its chance to turn earn some more once WW84 comes out to compete.
This Wonder Woman sequel sure has been having a hard time coming out. Originally the film was slated to release in November of 2019, but WB had pushed it back to June, a move that director Patty Jenkins had admittedly regretted. Now with WB attempting to find a release for Wonder Woman amid the pandemic, it's very likely this movie won't be making the profits it was expecting to should it have come out in normal circumstances.
Wonder Woman squares off against Maxwell Lord and the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.
If anything, the delay isn't official yet. As it stands, Wonder Woman 1984 is still expected to come out in theaters Oct. 2.
