Wonder Woman 1984 Delayed to August

With no clear end in sight for the Coronavirus Pandemic, studios have been forced to pull out films that were set to come out in the box office. The latest victim? Wonder Woman 1984.

According to Variety, Wonder Woman 1984 has been pushed from its June release date to August 14. WB head Toby Emmerich had this to say about the delay:

"When we greenlit ‘Wonder Woman 1984,' it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theatres on Aug. 14… We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then."

Ideally people are expecting things to get back to normal by June, but even by then, I don't expect everyone to be so keen in coming back to theaters. With a lot of hype surrounding the sequel to Wonder Woman, it would make sense that WB would be a bit more careful about when it comes out.

In hindsight, it seems like a mistake that Wonder Woman 1984 never came out on its original release date in November 2019. Director Patty Jenkins had expressed before that she regrets having the film pushed back, but now with the Coronavirus shutting down theaters, we'll have to wait a bit longer for Diana's big return to the silver screen.

Wonder Woman squares off against the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.
