Watch Trailer for Missing Link from Kubo and the Two Strings Studio

While animated movies have certainly moved on to CG nowadays, there are still some studios who like to stick to traditional stop-motion animation—one of them is Laika Studios who have brought us visual treats like Kubo and the Two Strings and The Boxtrolls. Now a new trailer has released for their latest film called Missing Link.

Here's the official synopsis:

Meet Mr. Link: 8 feet tall, 630 lbs, and covered in fur, but don't let his appearance fool you… he is funny, sweet, and adorably literal, making him the world's most lovable legend. Tired of living a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Link recruits fearless explorer Sir Lionel Frost to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, our fearless trio of explorers encounter more than their fair share of peril as they travel to the far reaches of the world to help their new friend.

The movie is being directed by Chris Butler whose only other movie in his resume is ParaNorman. Knowing Laika, even if the premise isn't that impressive, you'll always find yourself floored by the amazing visuals. I'm sure Missing Link is no exception.

If the premise isn't even enough to hook you, you'll be impressed by the celebrities who've been attached to the movie. You have Hugh Jackman and Zack Galifianakis playing the leads; add to that you have actors Timothy Olyphant, Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, Matt Lucas, David Walliams, and Amrita Acharia as well.

Catch Missing Link when it hits theaters April 12, 2019.
