Watch Henry Cavill Read Geralt's Introduction from The Witcher Books

There are a lot of things to look forward to when it comes to next week. Besides the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Netflix is also going to release the first season of The Witcher starring Henry Cavill. We've been getting a lot of promotion for the show recently, and a new video has Cavill reading a chapter out of Andrzej Sapkowski's books.

Check it:

Well, it's not entirely a chapter, but just a short scene that introduces us to Geralt of Rivia. What's cool is that we also get some shots from the show following Cavill's reading, but I guess they couldn't give us too much, as some of the shots come from a clearly different scene.

If anything, Cavill looks pretty great in the role, and this show could be a great introduction to the franchise. After a lot of people fell in love with Geralt from the game, I'm curious how Cavill's version is going to define itself.

The Witcher has been getting a lot of great buzzes recently, and people who get to check out the series earlier are singing nothing but praises from Lauren S. Hissrich's adaptation of the acclaimed novels. After what happened with Game of Thrones, there is now a void for an adult fantasy series and The Witcher could very much fill in that gap.

The Witcher follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

Catch The Witcher when it debuts on Netflix on Dec. 20.
