Was This Concept Art for Flashpoint’s Thomas Wayne Batman?

While a lot of people were interested when it was announced that Michael Keaton's Batman will be appearing in the Flash solo movie, it looks like the film has dropped the concept of introducing Thomas Wayne's Batman. What's interesting is, concept artist Jerad S. Marantz has shared a concept of Batman for a cancelled project, and it could very well be the Flashpoint Bats.

Check it out:

Marantz doesn't mention which project this was for, but it could very well be for a DCEU movie. Marantz has worked as a concept artist on Justice League, and this suit looks like something that could exist in that universe. The Bat-symbol on the chest is very similar to Batfleck's, and the red eyes can be an inspiration from the Flashpoint Batman. Can that mouth pass for Jeffrey Dean Morgan's, though?

Admittedly, I'm kind of bummed that Thomas Wayne has been dropped from the Flash movie. While I do understand that Keaton's version was iconic, I'd rather have a new Batman than just have one that panders to nostalgia. Plus, Thomas Wayne's appearance makes a better connection to Batfleck, who is also going to be in the film.

For now, I guess I'm just happy that The Flash is finally moving forward. For a movie about the fastest man alive, it sure is taking its time to get to theaters. At some point, people were joking that COVID happened just so Flash wouldn't be able to start production on time.

Catch The Flash when it finally hits theaters on June 2, 2022.
