The Suicide Squad: James Gunn Confirms Harley Plays a Major Part

With Margot Robbie being busy with Birds of Prey, a lot of people thought that her role would be minimized when it comes to James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. What's interesting is, Gunn himself has confirmed that Gotham's Clown Princess of Crime will still be a major player in the film.

Answering fan questions on his stories (via Harley Quinn Updates), Gunn posted:

We've already seen photos of Robbie on the set of The Suicide Squad, but we still have no confirmation as to how involved she's going to be. We know that she's been freed from Blackgate, so she doesn't really have any reason to be forced into working with Task Force X again—unless Amanda Waller somehow finds a way to manipulate Harley all over again.

If anything, it would be fun to have Harley appear as some kind of random tag-along, then again, I'm hoping that she has a more serious stake in the story. We don't even know what Gunn has in store for characters like Captain Boomerang, Polka-Dot Man, and Peacemaker yet.

While a plot is still unknown when it comes to The Suicide Squad, hopefully, we get a preview soon. With DC focusing on the release of Wonder Woman 1984 in June, I guess we could have our first teaser sometime in July, around the same time as SDCC 2020.

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is set for a release on Aug. 6, 2021.
